2013 Ford Mustang

Running full force against all of its competitors, like Chevrolet, Ford will be releasing details for its 2013 (6th generation) Mustang later this year (2011). While we don’t know every detail and most are still considered rumors or inside leaks, we can give you what we consider trustworthy specifications for the new Mustang generation.

For the engine bay, the 5.0 liter v8 and 3.7 liter v6 will remain the same, but for the GT V8, Ford will likely bump up the power to around 400+ and the GT500 to 600+ horse power.

In addition to the standard production mustang, Ford will be redoing the famous Cobra Jet. It will be getting a 5.4 liter supercharged aluminum block engine. As an added bonus, you can get two options for the supercharger; either the 2.3 liter TVS or the 4.0 liter Ford racing Whipple supercharger. For the transmission, you will only get one choice and it will be the race prepped automatic. Unfortunately, the Cobra Jet is only intended for the professional racing segment. Therefore, if you’re looking for a Cobra Jet for the street, you may be out of luck.

In general, you will find style cues from the previous generations GT500 as well as LED fog lights on the fascia. The front grille will be much more aggressive too, showing off its bulky upper grille and smaller rounded grille. The rear will also be seeing a redesign, featuring straight lined tail lights instead of the old angular ones. Ford is scheduled to release more exact numbers and figures at the L.A. Auto Show this November. Until then, here are some pictures to make you drool…

Sporting a hood scoop bigger than most photo-shopped tuner cars, the 2013 Cobra Jet is nothing to be rivaled with.
