Hennessy Venom GT
A car that was born out of dreams and reckless thought, the Venom GT…
Back in 2007, the Hennessy team participated in a challenge against some of the fastest cars on earth. Such as the Bugatti Veyron, Mercedes McLaren SLR, Lamborghini Murciellago, Ruf Porsche 911 Twin Turbo, and Hennessy’s Venom 1000 twin-turbo viper. The results put Hennessy at 20.3 seconds from 0-200 miles per hour. Overall, it took first place, knocking out the heavy weight Veyron which ran 0-200 in 24.2 seconds.
Out of this battle of speed came a thought, what if the Venom engine was put into a Lotus Exige? Renderings were drawn and soon came a full-blown racers dream, the Venom GT.
Some of the basic specs for the monster are 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and 0-200 mph in 15.9 seconds. The power plant is most similar to the Corvette engine and provides 1200 bhp from its twin garret turbochargers. The transmission is somewhat underwhelming with a standard 6-speed configuration. But hidden underneath the bell housing you would find battle ready gears and a clutch that could be used for armor plating.
The overall body of the Venom GT comes from a Lotus Exige, but the rear section is extended by nearly a foot to fit the V8 engine in the 2,685 pound speed demon.
